Urie Bronfenbrenner's designed the Ecological Systems Theory. He thought a person's development was affected by the surroundings. He ended with saying there are five levels that affect the child. The Ecological theory says that we encounter different environments throughout our lifespan that may influence our behavior.
Level 1 The Micro System
The micro system's setting is the direct environment we have in our lives. For example, family friends teachers and other people you have direct contact with. The micro system is the setting where we have direct social interactions.

Level 2 The Mesosystem
The mesosystem involves the relationships in the mircosystem. Which means your family experience may be related to your school experience. For example, if a child experiences neglect by their parents, they may have a small chance of developing a positive attitude towards their teacher. Furthermore, the child could become distant from people. For example, the child could be awkward with people or not even go around anyone.

Level 3 The Exosystem
The exosystem is the setting in which there is a link between the context, where a person does not have an active role. For example, suppose a child is more attached to his father more than his mother. If the father leaves for a few weeks there may be a conflict between the mother and child's social relationship. Or this could result in a tighter bond.

Level 5 The Chronosystem
This is the final level. This level includes the transitions and shifts in peoples life. An example of this is, divorce. Divorce is a major transition in someone's life. This may not just affect the parents in the relationship but also, the children's behavior. Then after a year or so after the divorce the children become more stable.
